Embracing Monochromatic Magic for Creating a Cozy Sanctuary Bedroom
How would you define a monochromatic color scheme? If it’s only using one shade of a specific color, I hate to tell ya, but you’re wrong. I find so many of my clients being so concerned about different pieces matching colors exactly! Even I get caught up in this thought as I’m still searching for new nightstands for our own bedroom. When we opt for such a bold design trend, especially in a bedroom, we need to make sure to layer in details in other ways like hues, saturations, and texture to add a dynamic element to the design, otherwise it will get boring.
Hanging ourselves up with stressing about the exact wood tone or color vibrancy matching between pieces is only going to add stress, and will honestly cheapen our spaces. With this bedroom design my client was looking for a cozy sanctuary space to have to retreat at the end of the day (or as they needed). As a family of four and a working mom, she needed a space to be able to relax into at the end of the day, and also a space to have any important meetings or phone calls outside of the main living area. Although their new home was larger, there was only enough rooms for the bedrooms, so their work from home space was in the open floor plan living/playroom/dining area. To help create a retreat that can work from day to night we included a little loveseat with a c-table in the bedroom to help create a touch down point where it wouldn’t become inappropriate to take Zoom calls as need.
Utilizing a mostly monochromatic color scheme creates a wow moment for the bedroom, enveloping you in earthy color to help you relax. Shop the pieces below to infuse some of these earthy and timeless vibes into your bedroom.
