How to Curate a Beautifully Holistic AirBNB Your Guests Will Immediately Book for their Next Vacation
Imagine finding the perfect vacation spot. It has the right layout, looks super clean, and the interior design of it just seems on point. It’s one of those moments where you see it, make sure the dates are free, and you click “book” without a second thought. So, how do we make your vacation rental listing become the most popular among the holistic community and beyond in your area? Let’s figure it out together.
Don’t Go for the Obvious
Just because we’re a little woo-woo, doesn’t mean we need to make it so glaringly obvious. Putting a lotus flower decal on your wall isn’t doing anyone any good. There’s so much more to curating a holistic vacation rental than including some of the main-stream symbols for holistic living.
Some other things on my do not do list:
-
Signage with words on it: people know where to eat in a home, and we don’t need to be told to Live, Laugh, and Love. These types of decor elements are typically seen as cheap and lazy decor (sorry midwest friends), but we just don’t want to present your vacation rental in this light.
-
Candles: scent is such an important part of the human experience, but we also don’t want a guest to forget they lit it, and then leave for hours on end. I’ve done that even in my own home. Let’s just leave this liability at the door. A better alternative might be an essential oil diffuser with some of your favorite blends, potpourri, or reed diffusers.
Fully Furnish the Rental
I recently read a review where the host included exactly zero tables. No coffee tables, no end tables, not even a dining table. Yes, some of your client base may only need a bed and can be happy, but what keeps people coming back or recommending your place is that you went above their expectations. And honestly, including things like end tables and coffee tables per your experience just makes living… easy.
Even if your spot is only meant for a party of two, add extra seating or even a built in work area. Include things to do like board games or puzzles. Plans change and making sure your guests are entertained within your rental is crucial.
Niche down on your decor and really get into it. Another fun game may be to include a scavenger hunt of some of your favorite decor pieces within the space! Help your guests notice some of the special details.
Clutter Free
There is a fine line between beautifully decorated and chaotically cluttered. Add the impeccable details without making your guests feel like they are living in a museum. The whole idea of creating a vacation rental is to get out of the transitional feeling of a hotel room, and feeling like you’re at your home away from home. That means you can add your special touch.
Holistically that may look like your favorite bath products for guests to use, artwork thoughtfully curated with Feng Shui in mind, or get sustainable. Fill your rental with touches of your local environment, flowers from the farmers market, craft beers from your local brewery, soap from your favorite local business. You have a rental in your area for a reason, show off your favorites with these wonderful touches. The energetics that go into shopping small and local make a huge difference in your clients user experience.
