For a family of four who frequently entertained their children’s teenage friends, I designed a multi-functional living room that balanced style with practicality. The space required seating for 12, a dedicated workspace for the mom who works from home, and a functional “drop zone” at the main entrance for coats, bags, and shoes. Given the room’s grand ceilings and expansive layout, it was crucial to select furniture that matched the scale while still feeling grounded and laidback to reflect the family’s relaxed vibe. The result is a space that effortlessly blends form and function, accommodating both the family’s daily routines and their lively gatherings.
