What to Expect on Install Day for Your Interior Design Project

Hint: it’s the grand finale, and yes, you’re getting kicked out (with love).

If you’ve made it to installation day—congratulations! That means we’ve wrapped up all the planning, ordering, back-and-forths, and behind-the-scenes magic, and it’s finally time to bring your new space to life.

Here’s exactly what to expect on install day (plus a few ways to make the most of it).

You’re Getting Kicked Out—for Good Reason

We ask that you, your family, and your pets make yourselves scarce during install day. This isn’t us being bossy—it’s about safety and surprise.

Our install crew will be carrying in large furniture, art, rugs, and accessories. We need a clear path to move quickly and safely, and we want to make sure no one (including your dog who loves to be underfoot) gets hurt in the process. It also helps us preserve that magical reveal moment—there’s nothing like seeing your space completely transformed, all at once, without watching it come together piece by piece.

Think of it as your own HGTV moment—minus the staged drama.

Instead of filling your living room with barn doors and shiplap, Warm Transitional leans into elegant wood finishes, timeless furniture silhouettes, and a mix of textures that feel more curated than themed. The result is a space that feels lived-in and inviting—without sacrificing style.

Behind the Scenes: We’ve Got It Handled

Long before installation day arrives, your pieces have been received, unpacked, and inspected by our white-glove delivery team. This crew works closely with us to ensure everything arrives in perfect condition—or is replaced quickly if it’s not.

In fact, at the time I’m writing this, one client’s mirror arrived completely shattered at our warehouse. But she’ll never know, because the replacement is already on its way and will be installed on time. That’s the kind of stress we quietly absorb for you behind the scenes.

Tips for a Smooth Installation

Here’s how to help the day run as smoothly as possible:

  • Clear the room. Whether you’re doing it yourself or hiring movers, the biggest favor you can do for your designer is making sure the room is ready and clutter-free. No need to deep-clean or over-prep—we’ll take care of styling and layout. Just give us a clean slate.
  • Plan something fun for yourself. Don’t just kill time out of the house—make it a day to look forward to! Go on a mini day trip, spend the night at a cozy Airbnb, or treat yourself to a spa appointment. When possible, we love when clients turn install day into a staycation.

Celebrating the Finished Space

Once everything is perfectly in place, we’ll welcome you home and walk you through your new space. It’s hands-down the best part of our job—watching your face light up as you see how all the ideas, textures, and colors came together to create something that finally feels like you.

You’ll also find a small gift from us as a thank-you for trusting us with your home. We don’t take it lightly—designing your most personal, intimate spaces is a privilege we’re honored to have.

And once we leave? Brag a little.

Send the pics. Host the dinner party. Wrestle the kids on the new (surprisingly soft) rug. This space was designed for living—and now it’s yours to enjoy.
