Get the dirty DEETS

This is where we lay out all of your questions as best we can! Working with a designer isn’t a super common thing that people do or talk about (luxury service after all), so we’re here to take out some of the mystery and common misconceptions about the process. Still have questions? Fill out our contact form and we will touch base on anything you’d like to know!

It may seem like a large up front cost, but hiring an interior designer can actually save you money in the long run. We help you avoid costly mistakes like ordering the wrong size furniture, mismatching styles, and selecting poor quality materials & finishes. We’re here to help streamline the process so it doesn’t take 5 years to finish your project, while giving you valuable insights on design details and access to exclusive resources.

Woo, loaded question but here are the main points: we take the time to source high quality furniture, materials, and accessories that look effortlessly styled while being functional for your home, create the design documentation to make sure your vision is communicated with tradespeople, expert design planning, streamlined and stress free process, project management, and access to trade only vendors.

We do our best to stay within your budget, and for insights our typical full-service design projects start at $20,000 per room for furnishings & decorations only.

We have multiple service options available where we create a professionally designed space with mostly retail products so you can shop yourself, which helps to keep the overall costs lower. If your project still doesn’t feel big enough for a fully-designed package, we have other a la carte options available after your initial consultation where we have the opportunity to dive into your project head first, and provide additional support to help you get there.

If you’re here, I’m going to say yeah, you need a designer. Once you start looking to hire someone I assume you already know that making hundreds of design decisions takes a lot of energy, and that doesn’t even get into hiring contractors, communicating your design intent, shopping for furniture, coordinating the delivery and storage of furniture and materials, or all the way down to finding the perfect piece of decor for all those surfaces. We’re here to help take all the work off your plate, while you get to have fun of enjoying the design process.

Here at Brass & Brick, we value transparency and over communicationWe also dream big, and our best work comes when we ignore the budget (just for a little bit, and I’m not going to triple your costs I promise), and once we have the perfect design in place we can reverse engineer to bring the overall project investment back to a comfortable level.

We work on a flat fee model for the design! For procurement (the shopping, receiving, and white glove delivery) process, we do pass along designer discounts when available for your products, with 15% added on to cover our time managing the logistics. We do our best to keep as much of your furniture, decor, and materials at or below retail price!

I’ll kick this off by saying, it’s best to hire your designer as early as possible. From here we get into the following flow:

  • Pre-Design: The Discovery Call & In-Home Consultation. We make sure we vibe, you like our ideas, and our service offerings align with your needs and investment level.
  • Conceptual Design: We start researching and digging into those ideas, making sure there are products that can create the aesthetic you’re looking for, and exploring and identifying functional, budgetary, and aesthetic preferences.
  • Design Development: Now that we have a clearer idea on your aesthetic, needs, and the space overall, we dive deep into creating your design. We create your design down to every final detail for review, and make any adjustments needed before we kick off construction & purchasing.
  • Construction & Procurement: We hit the ground running with our contractors and vendors, ordering everything we need to implement the design and construction is in progress while we make regular site visits to keep an eye on the progress.
  • Installation & Project Wrap: Finally, construction (if applicable) is complete, and we coordinate your installation days! We usually take 2 full days for install and decorating, and hopefully get a photography session in there as well! We’re here for you if there are any issues post-install, we don’t just leave you to fend for yourself if any issues arise (knock on wood).
